| Wanted to give you an update on Dollar, whom I adopted three months ago.She is still working on getting more comfortable with other dogs by visiting the dog park every week (she'll go nearly every day during my two-week Winter Break). She's a very protective dog, which I appreciate as a woman living alone!  Some ointment cured the eye/facial skin infection and the problem hasn't returned. Dollar follows me everywhere around the house, likes to eat when I do, likes to nap when I do, likes to take walks when I do . . . in other words, our routines match perfectly.  Dollar LOVES to have guests to the house and has a variety of chew toys which she enjoys playing fetch or "tug" with. Here are a couple pictures that show how well Dollar has reached a healthy weight (thanks to boiled organic chicken sprinkled over Hundenflocken). Losing Lili was of course the darkest time of 2007, but finding Dollar was the brightest. Thanks again for your help in finding the PERFECT dog for me.  :-) Mary Laine Yarber | |
| Dear Goddesses; Oh King, the wonderful boy. What a great and "old soul" he is; I wish I had ten of him (with a little visualization and money I will live with ten+ someday!) His personality has blossomed into a similar one of my very first Shepherd, Sultan. I've attached a photo of "nap time." I let King lounge wherever his whimsy leads him. He seems to favor the doorway...sunshine and a great viewing point for what's happening outdoors. Here is what I've experienced within a week: He has done the "I am a 4 lb. dog and wish to sit upon your lap" routine. I was, to say the least, thrilled at this experience. The "I could care less about the cat" attitude has changed to "I think it's kinda fun to chase the cat." Chasing was alas short-lived...Cicero gave King a short, but un-sweet hissing/growling warning shot. King turned away and found something else to occupy his time with. Heard his "voice" for the first time. What a lovely sound to my ears. No, he has not attempted to take over the bed in my room. Actually, I think his bed is more comfortable than my own. I made his out of a Tempur-Pedic mattress overlay It conforms to every old bone in his body. Crate? What crate? Needless to say the 4" mattress won over the sleeping in the crate. I am "over-joyed" that he found me! Thank you again and always for making this all happen for me. Cindy |

| Westside German Shepherd Rescue Wins Oscar Meyers Treats! Star-dog "Moose" and her handler, Andre, were cast in the Warner Brothers remake of GET SMART starring Steve Correll. It was thanks to a WGSR Alumni named Goldie (pictured with Andre, center), the soulful little wonder dog who is gone but never forgotten, that Andre and Moose (also a WGSR Alumni) were cast in this major Hollywood production. Goldie continues to help get her fuzzy friends adopted and bring national attention to Westside German Shepherd Rescue. | ||

| Hi Robin: Luther (formerly Bullet) is coming along beautifully. He's gained 12 pounds since we adopted him, and now weighs 101. His health is very much improved; our last project is to see the "dentist" to make sure there are not any tooth problems that will cause him any discomfort. Overall, he is doing well, and his coat is growing longer each day. He and Amber are becoming good friends, and we're all excited to have him as part of the family. Happy New Year to you and your loved ones, David, Ellen, Amber, & Luther | |
| We continue to be madly in love with this gorgeous puppy.  You can see from the attached photos that she has the most wonderful soft coat and magnificent fluffy tail and beautiful soft eyes.  She is now about 8-1/2 months old and weighs a little over 50 pounds.  She was a bit of a challenge to housebreak, mainly because she is so quiet and non-demanding that if we did not see her standing at the door, wanting out, she would just go ahead and find a quiet corner or door mat on which to piddle or poop.  I think and hope that she has matured beyond that now - no accidents in the last 2-3 weeks, and this has been the ONLY tiny negative in our lives together.  Since I finally have a couple of fairly good pics, I thought I would send them along. Warmest regards to all of you, Marge & Darrell Judge and, of course, Frankie (formerly Francie) | |
| Lager is doing GREAT! He is 3 yrs old,(approx), weighs 115 lbs. and VERY happy and healthy. He's mostly an inside dog but loves the outdoors. He is always chasing the wildlife on the 1 1/2 acres up here in Big Bear. He is an excellent traveler in his cage,( he knows it as his hotel), and loves to "GO". We could not be happier. He loves kids and other dogs. He's not too sure about the coyotes though. He knows how to stay away from them. I want to thank you for doing a great job with the Shepherd Rescue. | Hi! I adopted Argos (now known as Lycan) a few months ago. He's doing really well, and he's turning into quite the dog. He's graduated one obedience class, and next month he's taking the test for his Canine Good Citizen. I plan to get him registered as a therapy dog to go visit nursing homes and hospitals--he's pretty close! Otherwise, he's so goofy, I can't even look at him without laughing. My dog loves him, and in fact they are wrestling on the couch right now. I put him on the treadmill for a while each day to let him get out some energy, and in February we start agility. He gets along with every person and every dog he meets, even my dad's 10 pound yorkie mix. Thank you so much for uniting the two of us, I look forward to many fun filled years and watching him learn how to be a good dog. Thanks, Lucy |
| Hi Robin, Fenris (formerly Nikolaus) is doing well. He's put on 10-15 lbs of muscle and has really started to fill out. I attached a couple of recent pictures. Thanks again!
Joanne Reierson Rescue Note: Fenris is a lucky boy to have such wonderful 'parents'... :-) |
| Hi Pauline, I hope that you are well and being an angel to more great dogs like Indy. He is doing great! He decided that our bed was a nice place to sleep. We made him get down four times until he gave in and slept on the bed we bought for him. The sweetest thing happened. We were in the family room and Indy laid down with his head on my feet and then Ellie came up behind him and laid down with her head on his hip and they slept that way for about an hour. Then this afternoon they slept right against each other at my feet in my office. They are so cute together. This morning at the park they were both running very fast and Ellie decided to take a sharp left turn and to avoid her Indy jumped completely over her! It was amazing to see him so athletic. He has only gone to the bathroom in the house once. He is still good with Jethro, just se look at the eating side by side. He just sniffs and licks. Yesterday, he got a little to frisky and Jethro hissed but that was the end of it and 10 minutes later they were buddies again. He doesn't stop wagging his tail. I know he is a happy boy! We love him so much! Thanks again! Merry Christmas!Rhonda | |
| Shaggy has been an absolute delight from the moment we brought him home.  He just has the most incredible personality, and is extremely respectful of everything in the house. He’s housebroken, great with kids and other dogs, & makes us smile every day.  He loves to go for walks, and we go walking every evening, either on the bridle trails near our house, or to our local park where he loves to play ball.  We’ve been to the beach three times now, and that’s his absolute favorite walk. We were going to give him a much more dignified name, but when our grandkids first met him, they thought Shaggy was a perfect name….so Shaggy it is. He’s a wonderful boy and has become an important part of our family.  Thank you guys again for all of the good work you’re doing.Very Best Regards Ron, Harriet & Shaggy Morse |
